Production

In addition to supporting the production of domestic and international films and video works by strengthening the nationwide network of filming support, it also supports the human resource development of film commissions (FCs) and people involved in the film industry, promotes the film industry, disseminates film culture, and evaluates local resources.

In cooperation and collaboration with national and local governments, franchises, image related companies and organizations, and professional organizations, it aims to contribute to the development of the filming environment in Japan.

The Japan Location Database (JL-DB), which is part of a project commissioned by the Agency for Cultural Affairs, is an Internet service that allows users to search for information on filming locations, laws and regulations related to filming and application methods, as well as production, equipment and service companies throughout Japan.

In the past, in order to search for potential filming locations, it was necessary to contact each FC individually. With JL-DB, you can efficiently search for potential locations in Japan.

This project aims to demonstrate the actual effect of incentives for attracting large-scale international TV and film productions in Japan. It is a pilot project by the Cabinet Office of the Government of Japan. The purpose is to measure quantitatively and qualitatively the resulting effects of production incentives on regional economic promotion.

The applicant must be a Japanese company or organization.
